Why has the social network been in total chaos since the world’s richest man took control? Flipping the Bird investigates. Plus: five of the best podcasts about planet Earth
If the prospect of taking an oath of allegiance to an unelected billionaire doesn’t excite you, television is going to be a pretty tedious place for the next few days. Fortunately, there’s never been a better time to retreat into the world of podcasts. This week, the Guardian released a five-part series looking into the murky finances of King Charles. From its examination of his family’s past exploitation of enslaved people, through to the dubious line between his personal wealth and that which is supposedly held for our nation, it’s a welcome look at the kinds of issues lacking from the national conversation.
Also excellently skewering the powers that be is Pod Save the UK – a new homegrown version of the popular US take on politics, hosted by Nish Kumar and Guardian journalist Coco Khan. There’s also a look at Elon Musk’s, ahem, maverick leadership of Twitter, and an examination of a two decade-long battle over the theft of a Banksy. Plenty of brilliant listens, then, to distract you from having to watch the king’s big party ...
